After cooling to ambient temperature, the mixture was poured into saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (50 mL). The resulting solution was extracted with ethyl acetate (3×30 mL), and the organic layers were combined, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by preparative thin layer chromatography using 20:1 dichloromethane/methanol to afford the crude title compound which was used in the next step without further purification.
